The Chainsmokers/Coldplay (3) - Week #25

Question of the day: Does the font of the post change your desire to read it, or your pleasure in reading it?

I am adding a new colour to make the top 20 review more practical: Yellow = Masterpiece

Happy St-Jean Baptiste Day to anyone that celebrates it (which does not include me)!

Comments on debuts:
Finally I can complete this section after two weeks with no debuts. So first up is Overwhelming at #39, who left Hit-Bound and debuted the next week. So if a song leaves Hit-Bound it has a higher chance of debuting the countdown than a song that stays on Hit-Bound, apparently. The only time I ever heard this song was on Hit-Bound, and I listen to Hits 1 a lot. So either this was a large coincidence or it was rarely played during the week. I am glad that I never heard this because his voice is strait out annoying. It only works in All Time Low. In songs like Overwhelming, he sounds like Julia Michaels in Uh Huh. This is popular nowhere else, and happily it didn't debut too high. But you never know.

Our next debut is Good Time Good Life. Similar to Overwhelming, I never heard this on Hits 1 (only on Venus), it left Hit-Boundthen debuted the next week, and her voice is very annoying and sounds like rap. I seriously don't get how so many people like this song.

I have been waiting so long to review Despacito and it finally time! Thankfully, this debuted eventually, months after it was released, but I don't care as it is my favourite song at the moment. There were debates about whether it was on Hit-Bound and it seems that it was. It starts off with the guitar melody that lets you hear immediately when Despacito is playing. Then, Justin Bieber using his wonderful voice, in English. I will pause here and say that although Justin Bieber has a great voice, he is a horrible role model, and apparently at some bar or whatever he was asked to sing Despacito, but he didn't know the words, so he sang about burritos and doritos. Seriously, that is dissapointing. But the best singer in this song is not Justin Bieber, but Luis Fonsi. When I first got a glimpse of his voice, I thought he literally has the best singer voice on Earth right now. His voice mesmerizes you. Then, Daddy Yankee comes in and sort of raps. He has a very talented voice, but next to Luis Fonsi he is nothing. After that comes the chorus. The first part has Justin Bieber, again, using his great voice in a very catchy chorus. The second part of the chorus is easily my favourite part of the song. Luis Fonsi's voice is so incredible! Seriously I have no idea how to describe it, every time I hear it it makes me feel better in some way. For once the rapper doesn't ruin the song, also. Daddy Yankee is pretty good in his verse. The song is so good that you can simply ignore the lyrics. I will stop here, as I am taking a long time, but expect to see another paragraph like this in my top 45 songs of 2017.

This one will take less time, I only like Stay Together because of the lyrics, the catchy tune and the amazing chorus. That's all I can really say.

11. Fall Out Boy - Champion (DEBUT)

  1. You're the first to post again! Impressive!

Though... I'm slightly annoyed at Despacito being your favourite song. I personally don't mind the instrumental or vocals, but the lyrics (When translated) kill the song. They sound... a little 'rapey'. Like this bit:
    Slowly
I wanna breathe your neck slowly
Let me whisper things into your ear
So that you remember if you're not with me
    Slowly

Which by the way, is the chorus. They say they want to make love to a girl 'slowly' without any proof that the girl actually wants it. In my opinion it's even worse than Blurred Lines creepiness.

Anyway, sorry for ranting. I understand why you like it, because it does sound okay.

    1. Thank you!

For me, liking a song is most of the time simply based on the voice of the singer, the beat, the electronic parts, or so. I understand if lyrics are important for you, but for me, I knew that Despacito meant slowly, so I didn't want to translate it because I feared it would be as it is. For example, I am not a fan of the lyrics in Kissing Strangers, but the song itself is very catchy and his voice is really good, so I like the song. In Lost Boy, for example, the lyrics are good but the song is so boring and annoying that it even landed in by bottom 5 of 2016. If you have a look at my others blog, my top 30, you could see that there is a mix of amazing lyrics, horrible lyrics, or fun lyrics.

And I seriously don't care of you rant. We blog to show our opinions to others, and if we can't accept that our opinions are not the same then we should not blog. Songs get so many different opinions from everybody, and even though Despacito is #1 on the Billboard hot 100, there are people that genuinely hate it.

As I said, you are not forced to agree with everyone. Express your opinion freely, and th worst thing you could do is pretend you like a song when you don't. It is not that serious in life, but blogging is a step that now, in the modern day where we live in North America, there is no consequence to expressing your opinion.

I didn't proofread this so it may sound a little weird
