The Chainsmokers/Emily Warren (1) - Week #17

So... The Chainsmokers get yet another of their songs up there. Next up, Something Just Like This, hopefully! The problem with this song is that it is too old to just begin its reign and The Chainsmokers are getting annoying. Also, new to the countdown are all the debuts on Hit-Bound last week. And as Hit-Bound caught on to Hailee Steinfield's and Fall Out Boy's song, OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, and some of the other stars of April 27th didn't make the cut. And for some insane reason Despacito is still not on Hit-Bound.

Exits:
Twenty One Pilots - Heathens (#38)
Shawn Mendes - Treat You Better (#42)
Panic! At The Disco - Death Of A Bachelor (#44)[finally!]

Comments on debuts:
Attention is super catchy. Charlie Puth's voice is well used and this song is so much better than One Call Away. But I did not expect this song to debut this fast.

Shawn Mendes replaces himself. For There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back, it got a bit worse from my extremely mediocre definition of it last week.

I did hear The Cure quite a few times this week. This song is the first good song off of Joanne. I love the meaning of this song and the beat is cool. Or I am just relieved that Million Reasons is in the bottom 5.

Hit-Bound:
Ocean Park Standoff - Good News

Katy Perry - Bon Appetit (DEBUT)

One Ok Rock - American Girls
G-Eazy/Kehlani - Good Life

There's Nothing Blurbin' Me Back
All the songs from #2-9 are amazing except for #6. I grew back into Shape Of You and Mercy.

Of course Closer had to re-enter the top 10 sometime.

Why is L.A. Devotee nearing the top 10? This song is so annoying. Victorious will be Urie's only good song.

Slide jumping into the top 20 infuriates me! Seriously, what is so good about this song??? And why pick this rap song of them all???

All Night finally goes into the top 20! Thank you Hits 1! We need more songs like this!

Heavydirtysoul really should be more appreciated than Closer, Play That Song, Slide...

Why on Earth is I Don't Wanna Live Forever still jumping? This song is so overrated. Bom Bidi Bom is the best song of the soundtrack and yet this one gets popular because is has Taylor Swift and some guy sings as high as he possibly can. If you enter the top 20 again,..

Nice to see Lights Down Low making it up step by step.

What makes no sense is that Don't Wanna Know is higher on the countdown than Sign Of The Times.

The two big 20+ drops this week are fine by me!

Bruno Mars (1) - Week #16

While this week was a considerable step down from the past two weeks, there were some good aspects to it. For example, I Feel So Bad departed Hit-Bound, Believer entered the top 10, and so. But there were some flaws.

And I know Adrian will not be happy with our #1...

Biggest Drop: Lady Gaga - Million Reasons (-20) Biggest Jump: The Chainsmokers/Coldplay - Something Just Like This (+12)

New Entrant:
I really hoped that Cake wouldn't debut. At first I found it to be the most mediocre rap song out there, but then the repetition of «Cake» became annoying, and the meaning is so silly. I hope you flop, just like Lights Down Low is doing right now.

Hit-Bound:

One Ok Rock - American Girls

~This is still a catchy rock song, but seriously, how did this wind up on Hits 1? Although the beat is catchy and I do like rock music, but this was the most random song for Hits 1 to pick up.

Shawn Mendes - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back (DEBUT)

~I expected more from Shawn Mendes. This turned out to be the most mediocre song ever created. The meaning is okay. The instrumentals are okay. Shawn Mendes's voice is okay. The beat is okay.

Zayn/PartyNextDoor - Still Got Time

~Honestly, OneDirection members are taking up half the countdown right now. And the majority of the songs are great. But this song is straight-off rap. As bad as Slide, Cake, and Good TIme Good Life. Zayn can seriously do better. But seriously, his concoctions of I Don't Wanna Live Forever and Still Got Time aren't pleasing me.

Lady Gaga - The Cure (DEBUT)

~Finally a good song off Joanne! ( I grew out of A-YO quickly) The electronic aspect is really what catches me. I mean, Lady Gaga's voice is good. And the message is great.

G-Eazy/Kehlani - Good Life

~I had this song once at #2 for my preferences chart, mainly for Kehlani. But as er part grew slightly out of me, I began to jam to G-Eazy's part. This guy is the best rapper out there, and one of the rare good ones. And this song is part of the soundtrack to The Fate Of The Furious, which I am eager to watch.

Hey Violet - Break My Heart

~On youtube, at one point the top comment's genious creator thought that Hey Violet were saying «Braid My Hair» instead of «Break My Heart» :) and that is what lured me into the song. The verses are good but the chorus is annoying. And I have no idea how the chorus is saying «Break My Heart» because it sure sounds like «Braid My Hair» to me. And the lyrics of this song are as bad as the lyrics of Guys My Age, by the way. At least Guys My Age had an awesome beat.

Aaron Carter - Sooner or Later

~This song is spectacular. The beat is stellar. This guy is the definition of perseverance and this song is the definition of an amazing song. Every single part of this song is amazing, you name it.

Erin Bowman - Good Time Good Life

~I seriously hoped that this song would leave Hit-Bound when I saw that there was only one exit. But no. This horrid rap song still stands.

Jason Derulo/Ty Dolla $ign/Nicki Minaj - Swalla

~Again, I have nothing to say about this song. So I will talk about the exits. I Feel So Bad gone is a dream, and I knew that Talk Too Much would never debut.

Charlie Puth - Attention (DEBUT)

~This is hands down Charlie Puth's best song. The beat is fun. The words are cool. And I am glad that Charlie Puth wandered off from One Call Away.

Jon Bellion - Overwhelming

~Why did this song even join Hit-Bound? It is so bland and Jon Bellion's voice is terrible. But people seem to like this song.

DNCE/(?) Nicki Minaj (?) - Kissing Strangers

~I don't know if Hits 1 included Nicki Minaj in the song but it really doesn't matter. This song is terrible and should seriously consider leaving Hit-Bound before it turns orange.

Ocean Park Standoff - Good News

~This is a super catchy song with a great meaning. That is all I can say, really.

Mansionz/G-Eazy - Wicked

~This song really does not sound like Mike Posner but more like Blackbear... And G-Eazy here is pointless. But the song is still a little bit catchy.

Ed Sheeran (1) - Week #15

I have looked at every Sirius XM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown on one blog or another since Shut Up And Dance hit #1 for the fourth time. Sometimes, I am extremely frustrated at voters for events that really make no sense at all. Sometimes, I am happy about jumps and drops, or songs at #1. But no week in all this time has made me happier than this week. So many amazing things happened. On my way to church I listened to the countdown for a bit and I heard Cake By The Ocean (the #1 song this week one year ago) and then Spyder Harrison told us the last 4 songs, then the #1. I was so freaking happy and an amazing break for Easter!

I got this post out early because I found a free hour between parties.

Biggest JUMP!!!: Heavy (+21)[YES!!!]
Biggest DROP!!!: HandClap (-14)[YES!!!]

Comments on debuts:
Well, no week can be perfect. I thought that Slide would be gone for good, but I heard it five times this week, so I feared its debut. Anyway, I have no idea what is so good about this song. And why Hits1 would take this song instead of the [well, few] other great rap songs out there. The electronic kid's voice (or whatever) is completely unnecessary and makes the song worse. Frannk Ocean's drone of a voice is the end. And forget Migos.

Now that that is done with, let's visit our third-bet debut this week, Something Just Like This. I reviewed this quite a few times. Basically, Coldplay sound amazing, and The Chainsmokers ruin the song.

The second-best debut this week is Halsey. I love Halsey. She was my favourite female artist for quite a while before The Chainsmokers destroyed my opinion on her. But in Now Or Never, she is creeping to the top of my list again. The tune is catchy. And most importantly, her voice is amazing. Although the music video is extremely dumb, the song is great.

The best debut of the week is Sign Of The Times. I started off not liking this song but now I love it. This has a Pink Floyd feel to it. Harry Styles's voice is amazing in this song and the meaning is great.

Hit-Bound:
Mansionz/G-Eazy – Wicked
DNCE/Nicki Minaj – Kissing Strangers (DEBUT)
Kungs/Ephemerals – I Feel So Bad
Erin Bowman – Good Time Good Life
Flo Rida/99 Percent – Cake
Ocean Park Standoff – Good News
Jon Bellion – Overwhelming
Coin – Talk Too Much

Hey Violet – Break My Heart (DEBUT)
G-Eazy/Kehlani – Good Life (DEBUT)
One Ok Rock – American Girls

Zayn/PartyNextDoor – Still Got Time (DEBUT)
Aaron Carter – Sooner Or Later
Jason Derulo/Nicki Minaj/Ty Dolla $ign – Swalla

Wait... Did Green Light leave?[...]THANK YOU SO MUCH HITS 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hit-Bound isn't looking that good...

Kissing blurbs
To kick off this exceptional week, Everyday departed us after merely two weeks. Good riddance! The other exits were due.

I Don't Wanna Live Forever dropped 23 spots in two weeks. What a dream! And btw it couldn't stay pink too long before re-becoming orange.

So of last week's debuts, Don't Leave and Lights Down Low did not quite capture attention this week. I seriously hope that they can jump up next week and at least get some popularity. Also, All Night jumped 12 spots. That's good! Keep it up! You could become a top 20 show!

Heavydirtysoul is inching to the top 10. You better make it there.

As far as our top 5 goes, this is the first time that this has happened: every song in the top 5 has reached the top 10 on My Weekly Preferences at some point. That is something to notice. Music is taking a good turn and I hope that it can continue on until the summer. For our #5, I really did not expect Heavy to jump this much, but boy am I happy about it! This song has all of perfection and I would love to see it at number 1. For our #4, it's about time! For our #3, I really did not expect to see it this high ever. It really is an amazing song though and has a decent chance at #1. I remember Impossible from a while back which was my jam at the time. Now Say You Won't Let Go is reaching Impossible's quality. The #2 ong being at #2 is spectacular. This song is super catchy and Zedd does SO much better here than in Starving. Alessia Cara sounds at her best. And our #1 was unexpected but appreciated. But I was really rooting for Shape Of You to break Hello, Shut Up And Dance, and Shake It Off's record for most weeks at #1.

Album Review #3: The Chainsmokers - Memories... Do Not Open

Track #1: The One (Expicit)
Makes sense to have The One first. But sadly, the album did not start off well. Although the beat is fine, Andrew Toggart's voice is not displayed well. And I don't get why the Chainsmokers are starting to swear like everybody. It just annoys me that I can't download this song, not that I want to, but if I did want to download this song, I couldn't play it in the car because he swears. And the electronic aspect is so annoying.
3/10

Track #2: Break Up Every Night (Explicit)
In this song Andrew Toggart sounds exactly like Simple Plan, but not in a good way. The electronic aspect, again, hurts my ears. I guess The Chainsmokers tried to isolate the E and the D from EDM, but it just doesn't work.
2/10

Track #3: Bloodstream (Explicit)
Finally an okay song! The beat is catchy, Andrew Toggart's voice is well showcased in this song and the electronic part is better. An improvement!
6.5/10

Track #4: Don't Say (w/Emily Warren)
Throughout the horrifying sound of whatever in the back annoys me. But Emily Warren's voice is perfect except at the end, the other instruments sound great. The beat is great. Then when the electronic part comes out alone it sounds amazing! If only The Chainsmokers didn't add that horrible sound in the background. But my most anticipated song came off good.
7.5/10

Track #5: Something Just Like This (w/Coldplay)
Here, I believe I already said this, Coldplay sounds amazing. Chris Martin always has. The song is mellow, and the words amazing. But the The Chainsmokers destroy the feel with their horrible electronic work.
8/10

Track #6: My Type (w/Emily Warren)
The beat here is great. The electronic part is great. I loved this song when I first heard it. But then it is so repetitive... And Emily Warren sounds better in Capsize. Actually, I don't think she will ever beat Capsize.
7.5/10

Track #7: It Won't Kill Ya (w/Louane)
This track is funky. But it is also very cool. Louane's voice is amazing! If any of you watch The Voice, she was a semi-finalist in the second season.
9.5/10

Track #8: Paris (w/Emily Warren [technically])
I have seriously grown out of the chorus of this song. The only part that I still like is the verses and Emily Warren. But this song is better than some of the songs on the album.
7/10

Track #9: Honest
So Andrew Toggart tries to sing alone again. Fail... And I am getting tired of talking about the horrid electronic effects... And the lyrics make no sense.
3.5/10

Track #10: Wake Up Alone (w/Jhené Aiko)
Whenever some unknown artist collaborates with The Chainsmokers they sound good. But when someone known well like Halsey did Closer, she sounded horrible. The beat here is great. Close to the best song off the album.
10/10

Track 11: Young
This song has the best chance of making it big. This will probably be The Chainsmokers single after The One. I mean this song is ok. But is sure has the poppy feeling and good meaning.
7/10

Track 12: Last Day Alive (w/Florida Georgia Line)
How do these two guys go together? Doesn't make any sense. But this actually worked perfectly. Just when I thought that I lost hope with the electronic aspect of The Chainsmokers I hear the last song on the album. FGL sounds exceptional. This is the best song off the album and left a good imprint!
10/10
